Hushlo

Privacy policy

Last updated 16 October 2026

The short version

The Hushlo extension keeps everything on your computer. It has no account, no analytics and no tracking, and it sends nothing to any server. This website only keeps your email if you join the waitlist.

The Hushlo extension

What it stores

Your tasks, blocklist, settings, focus session history and any wallpapers you upload. All of it is saved with Chrome's chrome.storage.local, on your computer only. It isn't synced to other devices and it isn't sent to us or anyone else.

What it doesn't do

  • It has no account and doesn't ask who you are.
  • It has no analytics, no tracking and no ads.
  • It sends nothing to any server, ours included.
  • It loads nothing from the internet. Fonts and wallpapers are built in, and sounds are generated on your computer.
  • It doesn't read the content of the pages you visit.

Deleting your data

Uninstall Hushlo and Chrome deletes everything it stored. You can also delete tasks and sites one by one inside the extension.

Permissions, in plain words

These are the permissions Hushlo asks Chrome for, and why.

storage
Saves your tasks, blocklist, settings and session history on your computer.
alarms
Wakes Hushlo when a session ends, so the timer is right even when every tab is closed.
notifications
Tells you when a focus session or a break is over.
declarativeNetRequest
Sends sites on your blocklist to Hushlo's own “blocked” page while you focus. Chrome applies these rules itself; Hushlo doesn't see or read the pages you visit.
offscreen
Plays the focus sounds and chimes, which Hushlo generates on your computer, when no Hushlo tab is open.
Access to a site you block (optional)
When you add a site to your blocklist, Chrome asks whether Hushlo may access it (for example *://*.instagram.com/*). Chrome needs this to redirect that site, and to move a tab that's already open on it when focus starts. Hushlo asks one site at a time and never for all sites. You can remove access in Chrome's extension settings.

The waitlist

If you join the waitlist, we keep your email address and which page you joined from. It's stored with Resend, the service we use to send email. We use it only to tell you when the iPhone app and Hushlo Plus launch. We don't sell it or share it. Every email has an unsubscribe link, or write to us and we'll delete it.

Feedback when you uninstall

When you uninstall the extension, Chrome opens a page here that asks why you left. Answering is optional. If you send it, your answers and note are emailed to us through Resend. We don't ask for your name or email, so they aren't linked to you unless you write them in.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Vercel. Like most hosts, Vercel keeps short-lived server logs of requests (such as IP address, browser and the page asked for) to run and protect the service. We don't use them to track you. The site has no analytics, no cookies for tracking and no ads.

Accounts and Hushlo Plus

Hushlo Plus and the iPhone app will come later, with an optional account so your devices can sync. They aren't live yet. We'll update this policy before they launch, and the free extension will keep working without an account.
